  • Has Oprah Peaked?
  • Oprah is a media mogul. She has her hands in TV, magazines, books, movies, fund-raising – you name it. All is not rosy in the land of Oprah. Viewership for the Oprah Show has been on a decline for the past three years, dropping about 7% this year to 7.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen. It’s still the #1 talk show 471 weeks running and has an audience one-third larger than the nearest Nielsen competitor, “Dr. Phil”.
  • "Oprah is a money making machine, but it seems like her popularity is waning a wee bit now. She is still the #1 Celebrity on the Forbes list."

  • Long Live the Green
  • We’ve all heard of the so-called Hallmark Holidays…Boss’ Day and Secretary’s Week. But they don’t have anything on the newest consumer extravaganza: Earth Day, which could rival Christmas for our spare dollars. In case you were wondering, April 22nd is Earth Day.
  • "I like that "green teams" haven't stopped since Green Day has passed."

  • Braille Strategy
  • The European Union’s 10 million blind folk have the government to thank for Braille labeling on prescription drugs and over the counter medical products. This visionless group now has a fool proof way of reading medicines. That is, as long as they’re familiar with Braille. The logistics behind creating labels for the blind and visually impaired has fostered innovation and has set marketers ablaze with the question, “Why stop at medicines, what about other products?
  • "I love this forward thinking."

  • Bad Model Behavior
  • Naomi Campbell has an ugly temper and a long history of tantrums. She’s flung a phone at an assistant, beat another with a Blackberry and assaulted a housekeeper with a jewel-encrusted mobile (to name just a few incidents in her checkered past).
  • "I would hate to "market" one of these bad behavior celebrities as well Michael..... unless I worked for a celeb rag magazine/show like TMZ, those people would be PURE GOLD."

  • Ads, Lies & Lawsuits
  • It was supposed to fight germs and viruses and stop a cold. Americans have shelled out hundreds of millions since 1999 to keep the cold & flu at bay with an herbal medicine known as Airborne.
  • "From a marketing stand point, I always thought Airborne was really smart to mention that it was developed by a school teacher. Who doesn't trust a teacher?!?"

  • Offending China
  • An NBA basketball sensation goes head to head with a Chinese martial artist in a Nike television ad and wins. Outrage is voiced by Chinese consumers over the defeat and the government pulls the ad saying, “it violated the country's dignity.”
  • "How "sensitive" do agencys have to be?"
