  • Candy-Flavored Smokes
  • The Wall Street Journal says sweet-flavored cigarettes are "one of the hottest new product categories in the tobacco industry.” New-fangled cigs such as Camel’s Exotic Blends and Kool’s Smooth Fusions target a new generation of smokers.
  • "I personally find it to be absurd that people feel offended by the flavored cigarettes. It makes perfect sense for a tobacco company to do this. They have the right market their product in any fashion they desire. If people are so worried about this flavored tobacco enticing children to smoke then maybe they should worry about educating the children on the dangers of smoking. Kids, well teenagers smoke period end. Flavored or non flavored tobacco, they are going to try it. Looks to me like the tobacco company feels that these flavored cigarettes will actually reduce the amount smoked on a daily basis. What would you prefer? You teenage son or daughter smoking one or two of these flavored cigarettes a day or a pack of non- flavored a day. Who’s to say smoking isn’t “sophisticated” and or “classy”? Ahh the non-smokers that’s who. The government has no business what so ever interfering with the manufactures right to sell their tobacco product. If the government wants to step in why stop at tobacco? Why not go after alcohol? Or foods that are high in fat or cholesterol? Granted smoking kills, as do most things we enjoy. When marketed/advertised the tobacco companies even warn about the dangers of smoking. Even when a kid/teenager picks up a cigarette they are aware of the dangers. If they are not then it is our faults as parents and educators not the fault of the tobacco industry. It’s our right to choose to smoke or not to smoke. To take that right away from the people would be perverse abuse of power. Wouldn’t take much after that before we were suddenly living our lives the way those with the power think we should be living our lives. We would be living our lives according to their choices not our own. There has been no crime committed. This product is not directed towards children. It is simply flavored tobacco. You know the tobacco industry is the only one I can think of that makes the dangers of their product known to the masses. To me that is reason for applause not to be condemned. If it children smoking that is a concern then maybe a little less finger pointing and a little more educating is what is needed"
