Re: Uganda's Pied piper: I hate to bring this up, but the question over lack of awareness/involvement on the part of American public may require self-examination…

Unfortunately, depends on your p.o.v. I don' t have the disposable income to indulge myself in every fad that comes along, ergo, I am a "late joiner"…
Ok, let’s be honest. How many of you have ever cried during a Hallmark commercial? Ever since I can remember, every holiday season, Hallmark produces a commercial that tugs at my heart strings or produces a tear.
My favorite Hallmark commercial over the years advertises the “Just Because Cards” a line of cards featuring cards for Friendship, just to say Hello cards, Congratulations etc.
All the Hallmark commercials during this advertising campaign contained scenarios that featured certain events such as a busy husband going off to work for the day and his wife slips a Just Because card in his jacket pocket, when he puts on the jacket he feels the card and reads it…the rest is history-- I’m already tearing up.
My favorite Hallmark commercial of all time is the one entitled “Breaking Through” where a mother walks to her child’s bedroom and encounters a door plastered with posters saying “No Parents” and “Dogs only”; we get the impression that the child is not very happy that day. A Hallmark card emerges from Mom’s pocket and she slides it under the door. She waits patiently and seconds later her teenage daughter opens the door, card in hand with a wild smile on her face.
This commercial produces so many emotions when I read it. I’m a big daddy’s girl but whenever I saw that commercial it always reminded me of how much of a supporter my mother had been and is to me. My mother is the one who whenever she wanted to offer encouragement or let us know that we did a good job, she would present us with a card, usually a Hallmark, with a cute knick knack or trinket included. No matter how old I get, this commercial always has special meaning for me.
Do you have Hallmark moment?
