Victoria’s Secret uses picture-perfect breasts to sell sexy lingerie. Not a bad idea.

Wonderbra has now joined the ranks, featuring perky pin-up Dita Von Teese (once married to Marilyn Manson). Starting out as a stripper, soft-core porn fetish model and 2002 Playboy covergirl, Dita moved on to reality TV, MTV and VH1. She was a guest coach on cycle 7 of Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model and is featured in a number of music videos.

Dita ranks eighth on E! Network’s 20 Hottest Women on the Web. She’s been in Haute Couture shows at Paris Fashion Week, and performed nude except for $5 million dollars in diamonds for a New York benefit.

“Wonderbra intimates continues to empower women to feel sexy and confident with that unmistakable Wonderbra brand attitude.”

What makes Dita the perfect model for the Wonderbra? Who better than a stripper to represent Wonderbra’s “Easy Off” feature? Not a bad match.

Do you think that a burlesque star, stripper, and ex-wife of Marilyn Manson is a good match for Wonderbra?

I think it's absolutely fine to have Dita Von Teese as the spokes model for Wonderbra. First off, she's absolutely gorgeous, with an amazing NATURAL body. Her breasts are hers, not bought and paid for, as is every other part of her. I would love for my daughter to look at her and see that it is OK to have hips and if she is going to try and look like someone, I would hope that it would be someone like Dita, instead of a stick like the majority of other models in the industry.

By the way... why would the fact that she was at one time married to a theatrical rock star have anything to do with her chosen profession now?

Not particularly, because the purpose of the Wonderbra, is to make a sales pitch to women with imperfect breast, to make them feel confident and look good when wearing the Wonderbra. My question is, by using Dita Von Teese, is Wonderbra saying her breast are just like any other woman and that this bra makes hers look perfect. If her breast are already perfect, why use her as a model - is it to say, Dita's breast looks even better or is it to give the facade that Dita breast are imperfect and now looks perfect. Not sure what the reasoning is, but Victoria Secret would not use the average woman to be the spokeperson/model. With that in mind, who is the target audience? I would say men.

This reminds me of the time a company increased sales from both male and female consumers, after they started advertisement showing a pair of sexy legs with their NEW brand of pantyhose. Both sexes found these legs sexually alluring, but for different reasons. The men consciously saw sexy female legs, and the women were sexually aroused subconsciously, because those legs actually belonged to a male.

While Dita Von Teese is not a male, I can understand why they want to use her in much the same way as with above. Here again they are trying to increase sales from both genders. They are attacking the male’s sex drive, and appealing to the women’s unconscious desire to be sexually attractive to men. In both cases, if the woman wares these Wonderbras she would be sexy and desirable like Dita Von Teese. The only problem is that I really don’t find her that all attractive, so I don’t plan on ever buying them for my woman, even if I had one. LOL
