Re: Uganda's Pied piper: I hate to bring this up, but the question over lack of awareness/involvement on the part of American public may require self-examination…

Emotional Advertising

Can’t Wait

Can't Wait

Mario McBride

We see many advertisements daily pushing numerous products and goods. These ads are meant to sell goods and services to the masses, or at the very least to make the consumer tempted to purchase the goods. It is expected that companies seek to make their goods more profitable through these means, but it is admirable when goods are put on the market to fulfill a greater purpose.

Bart Scott is a professional football player for the New York Jets, but he has recently become much more than just your run of the mill millionaire celebrity athlete. He has become an entrepreneur slash practitioner of emotional advertising, as well as an inspiration. Last year during the playoffs Bart Scott coined a phrase that set the sporting world on fire when he was told by a reporter “See you next week in Pittsburgh.” He replied, “Can’t Wait!” He has since trademarked the phrase and is preparing to launch a clothing line in its honor.

How does this make him an inspiration you may ask?

Mr. Scott has decided to donate the proceeds of the first run of his clothing line (1,200 T-shirts with “Can’t Wait!” embroidered on them) to the LeGrand Believe Fund, a fund dedicated to a Rutgers football player who was paralyzed during a game with Army last year. He hopes that the proceeds will help with medical bills as well as make LeGrand’s home wheelchair accessible. LeGrand has begun to slowly regain feeling throughout his body, and with the help of efforts like Bart Scott’s he stands a fighting chance I “Can’t Wait” for Eric LeGrand’s full recovery.

Will you be purchasing a Can’t Wait t-shirt?
