I may be oversimplifying here but I always liked Aristotle's thoughts on life-everything in moderation. Yes there is an obesity problem in this country.…

Positive reinforcement only goes so far with kids. Super thin models are not the only images that teens see everyday that make them think that anything…
From: Is thin really in?
I understand that some of these said modesl aren't naturally thin but you cannot change that. You can only change what is in your life. If you don't…
“Cheap as Chips” the Brits say when they find a bargain! That popular saying took on a new meaning with a Doritos commercial made for 6.50 pounds (just under US$13).
You’ll be ‘gob smacked’ by the creativity and fun of “God of Salsa,” an ad made by two, twenty-something amateurs.
It was all part of the “You Make It, We Play It” competition that garnered over 900 entrants to find a consumer-generated ad for the telly. It aired during Euro ITV’s 2008 soccer coverage.
We all know that reality shows are big money makers.
This past winter, Doritos put out a casting call for “Spicy Girls and Sweet Guys” for an on-air reality dating micro series. The winners will appear in a national ad campaign for Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili Chips. The campaign taps into MTV’s NextorNot popular dating site that supports more than 12 million members.
Now this next one may provoke laughter or genuine anticipation, but what should we expect from a bunch of scientists on the island of Svarlbad, midway between Norway and the North Pole?
They beamed up the “Tribe” Doritos advertisement into space hoping that aliens might see it. Yes, you heard right. Forty–two light years away, in the Ursa Major system, some extraterrestrial life may be watching a Doritos ad. I do not know about you, but I could think of better film clips to beam up: classics like Citizen Kane, Titanic, Gone with the Wind, but a Doritos ad?
The scientists “believe that a repeated broadcast of the advertisement in a series of regular pulses over several hours might help extraterrestrials identify the message as intelligent.”
Hi, aliens, greetings from Earth. We eat fat-laden, greasy processed food. Could this make us more attractive as a food supply to aliens?
Scratch that, let me get back to marketing. Doritos “donated” money to the European Space Station on Svalbard. That answers the question of “WHY a Doritos ad?”
Do crazy marketing ploys and contests make a commercial more exciting? Does the buzz surrounding stunts like these make you more apt to buy a product?
