Re: Uganda's Pied piper: I hate to bring this up, but the question over lack of awareness/involvement on the part of American public may require self-examination…

Unfortunately, depends on your p.o.v. I don' t have the disposable income to indulge myself in every fad that comes along, ergo, I am a "late joiner"…
Apple has done an amazing job selling the features of its newest iPhone. They have focused on emotional advertising as a way to sell this product and its new features. The FaceTime application allows individuals to have a face to face conversation while on the phone. The advertisement that made the biggest impression on me is the first one that aired when the new iPhone 4 was introduced.
This commercial shows many different types of individuals using the feature to share special moments with their family and friends. The commercial can be viewed on YouTube at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yatSAEqNL7k.
The first scene is of a father who is away from home watching his children play. The next scene is of grandparents talking to their granddaughter who had recently graduated. Then, it shows two friends deciding what outfit to wear. The last two scenes are of a soldier away from home watching a sonogram of his child and a deaf couple signing to each other.
I must admit that this advertisement is what sold me to purchase a new iPhone for me and my husband. When I realized that the new version of the iPhone would allow me to talk to and see my husband while he is away on business I knew we had to have them. There are so many precious moments that have occurred that my husband has missed being away from home. Now, with the new iPhone, he will never miss another moment.
Do commercials like this move you to purchase technology?
