Great job Evelyn
Unless you live in a cave, you know that gas prices are spiraling out of control. Headlines include:
- Super unleaded too expensive; demand drops
- Food costs rise due to increased transportation costs
- Avoid high gas prices with an electric car
If you want a hybrid vehicle, stand in line and dig deep into your pockets. As for negotiation the sticker price, that’s not going to happen. You’ll probably wind up paying a premium.
Next up is the newest buzz: the hydrogen fuel cell car being tested by ‘tree-hugging celebrities in California. America Ferrara of Ugly Betty is driving one.
Hmmm…a Hollywood starlet followed around 24/7 by paparazzi…makes for good car ads.
And, of course, there will be casualties. The gas-guzzling Hummer may disappear into oblivion like a childhood star, but with no comeback in the media. The Hummer, David Caruso’s costar in the hip TV series CSI Miami, is now the victim of the skyrocketing cost of fuel. Finally, the Hummer relegated to the “basement of demand.”
The bad boy of the car world not so bad anymore.
It is not uncommon to see vehicles featured in our favorite television shows and movies. Does the fact that your favorite celebrity drives an energy efficient car vs. a Hummer make you more likely to buy a hybrid, fuel-cell, or electric car?

No, it is not uncommon to see vehicles featured in our favorite movies, or TV shows. Many times these cars are given to the studios for the trade off for free advertisement. These companies know that if their target consumers see their product being used in these movies, or TV shows that they will be more interested in buying them, especially if they are seen in a positive light.
The fact that my favorite celebrity drives an energy efficient car vs. a Hummer, does NOT make me more likely to buy a hybrid, fuel-cell, or electric car; because I do not have a favorite celebrity. LOL I would choose a hybrid, fuel-cell, or electric car on two things:
1. My research on the different makes and models available to me.
2. My ability to afford said car
That has been the way I always been, and that is the way I will always be. By the way... you forgot about the possibility of buying a conversion kit to change your auto over into a more fuel friendly vehicle, which would cost much less, and has a keen interest to us “do it yourselfers”. LOL
