Very well written. I could not agree more there is no such thing as a "happy period" other than they confirm you are not pregnant. These ads are probably…

Internet Love

Internet Love

Natasha Martin-Egwuonwu

A couple years ago, I remember having a nice family Sunday dinner filled with joy, laughter and smiles. In between meals everyone would catch up on old times, politics, and to-do lists. The tone suddenly changed as the conversation shifted with a shocking confession by my aunt Lisa openly admitting she is now using an Internet dating site to find love. The laughter came to a screeching halt, eyes were as big as plates and you could hear a pin drop in the room. Sound familiar?

Today, Internet dating is not so taboo. It’s even considered the “IN” thing of dating for many. Gone is the day you quietly whispered to a friend over a Cosmo that you are using alternative means to finding love, an Internet dating site.

Does an Internet dating site work? In 2008, more than 120,000 marriages resulted from Internet dating sites. At least 31% of Americans have admitted to using or knowing someone who are currently Internet dating site users. The numbers are continuously growing in the Internet world of dating. However, with mobile, virtual and online dating availability INTERNET DATERS BEWARE!! Statistics show that as much as you are trying to find endless love, Internet dating can be a dangerous playing field. And trust me…you have no idea who the real players in the field are. You can be subject to scams, con artists and even death. The list of horror stories goes on and on. Be careful in your search for love and happiness.

In closing, my Aunt Lisa did find her soul mate via a popular Internet dating site. She got married! We all came to realize that it’s not the source of finding love that counts. It’s her happiness.

Got a dating site story to share?
