Old Navy introduced the Techno World clothing line just in time for holiday shopping. It is evident Old Navy Funnovations Inc. had good intentions with this breakthrough relationship of new technology reaching a level of cool. However, the problem with this line of clothing will be seen after the holidays when school begins.
One of the Techno World tees has a guitar on the front you can play. Another is a jacket with speakers on the front and hats and hoodies with built in headphones. Imagine, if you will, a classroom full of elementary, middle, or high school kids wearing these highly distraction and potentially disruptive clothes.
I am a substitute teacher and it is very difficult already for educators to keep the attention of our children long enough to adequately educate them. Currently teachers compete with iPods and phones that frequently have to be confiscated during school. Now we will have to compete with musical clothing as well! Will educators have to start confiscating clothes too?
Is there ANY help for educators out there? What in the Techno World were they thinking?
The education system in the United States has struggled in recent years and the future of our children and nation hangs in the balance. As a parent of five children I will not be buying Techno World tees, hats, or hoodies and I hope other parents will see the potential problems and do the same.
Is the education of our children only the responsibility of parents and educators?
