This was a very well written article. While I do agree with you on some of the statements I also disagree. It would be nice if there were no side…

Very well written. I could not agree more there is no such thing as a "happy period" other than they confirm you are not pregnant. These ads are probably…

Green is a new trend that is often viewed as boring or "hippie". Never having seen these commercials, going off of your description, it seems that…
Have you seen the ad of President Obama and Venezuela's Hugo Chavez locked in a passionate kiss? If you think that is an odd pairing, there are more like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas kissing. The Pope kissing Sheik Ahmed el-Tayeb of Cairo's al-Azhar Institute and another of President Obama kissing Chinese President Hu Jintao.
These ads were released by the UNHATE foundation founded by the Benetton Group. They recently started the UNHATE campaign which is a universal campaign that intends to use mass communication to fight worldwide hate and spread an understanding of each other's motivation, faith and culture. Their main theme is the kiss, the universal symbol for love. To promote their campaign, they released ads with these world leaders locking lips, effectively drawing attention to their cause.
These ads were far from accepted by the viewers.
I feel that this particular controversial ad was disrespectful. The interaction between the world leaders is not shown to be truthful in these ads. Manufacturing photos, shown in such a manner, is an insult to them, their wives, and their families. It is also extremely offensive to some of those they lead.
Is this ad campaign effective or just another case of shockvertising?
