Green is a new trend that is often viewed as boring or "hippie". Never having seen these commercials, going off of your description, it seems that…
While watching TV, I saw a commercial created by Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW). The commercial reflects how China perceives Americans and the United States’ national debt. A Chinese professor is lecturing his students on the fall of great empires like the United States and how great empires make mistakes by turning their backs on the very principles that made them great. The Professor comments that China owns most of the US debt, so now Americans work for the Chinese. It really makes you angry as an American.
Is this ad appropriate right now?
I am sure every American is either dealing with being out of work, or knows someone who is. The majority of Americans understand that China is one of our major debt holders. This ad is another marketing tactic to instill fear and apprehension of what our future will look like.
Are Americans holding our government accountable for their actions? It is amazing to me that Americans would rather watch Jersey Shore before watching an announcement from our President. Americans are perceived as lazy, spoiled and not respected. How many countries get bailed out continuously by the United States when there is a national crisis or Americans generously donating money to help someone they do not even know?
Americans overall are kind and hardworking. I truly believe, though our economy is in a crisis, America will pull through. Americans will prove to the rest of the world when things look bad, Americans rise up for the challenge. The United States is not like all great empires, Americans do not turn their backs on the backbone of our forefathers and principles that made our country great. CAGW’s marketing campaign is just another way of creating doubt, fear and apprehension in an already stressed America. CAGW, allow American’s to heal.
Here is the ad. How do you feel about the message?
