What you're thinking!

From: Is thin really in?

I think it is a little scary how the myth of thin is beautiful is constantly perpetuated. Billboards, print ad, tv and movies, all of those women…

Okay, so there's a lot of discussion on this matter. I and my family have used Airborne. It's not a cure-all, though at one point it may have been,…

Stoopid Commercials

Stoopid Commercials

Amber “Abby” Sepulveda

Have you ever seen those commercials where they just talk so fast and the commercial lasts a few seconds? Then you ask “What the heck was that ad all about?”

Sometimes you just have to wonder how someone got paid to create it.

Or how about when you see a commercial and you really don’t like it – and all of a sudden it repeats itself, twice. It almost seems as if the commercial is stalking me. Is there a law against this?

Notice how some ads love to have the number NINE in their phone numbers? Well my favorite number is two. Why not put “two” in the phone number? Why are there so many 9s in phone numbers? Something to do with an omen?

I mean, come on. Can’t sponsors do better than that? Have a nice catchy theme song like McDonald’s “bada ba ba baa I’m loving it” Well I’m not loving some of those other commercials, that’s for sure.

I can’t even watch Cartoon Network because most of the time stupid commercials pop up and some don’t know when to shut up. I just get annoyed and don’t watch TV for a day or two until my favorite show airs. During that time, sponsors can’t sell anything to me, can they?

Now, Jerry Springer has really funny commercials during his show. And because they’re not that serious, I remember them. Some ads are so serious they don’t even get my attention.

What commercials really annoy you? Is repetition good marketing? Do serious commercials get your attention, or do you prefer something lighter and comedic?

I'm sure those commercial jingle composers are making money hand over fist.

I find comedy the best source for advertising a product.

Repetition in advertising is a must. It is something that will brand your product. Look at the ad houses that created the look of Target and iTunes commercials. Brilliant.

I don't like the "tug at your heart strings" please donate commercials. That type of advertising never works on me, maybe I'm to cynical???
