Take Responsibility

Take Responsibility

Robet Fetterolf

Why does the media and the legal system feel it’s necessary to blame companies for their customers making bad decisions? Case in point: McDonald’s Restaurants.

“Supersize Me” came out in 2004 where the author and creator, Morgan Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald’s for thirty days. Towards the end of the experiment, Mr. Spurlock began to develop health problems and was encouraged by his physician to immediately cease his test. McDonald’s has been offering healthy alternatives for years. Salads, fruit parfaits, grilled chicken, and sliced apples have been on the menu, but customers continue to order the not so healthy burgers and French Fries while ignoring the more nutritious alternatives.

The Federal Government mandated nutritional labeling in fast food restaurants, so people should not have an excuse. Even though the high calorie counts, saturated fats, and sodium levels are clearly stated in the restaurant, customers continue to frequent McDonald’s and other fast food places more often than they should and make poor choices when it comes to their consumption.

What ever happened to personal responsibility?
