Very well written. I could not agree more there is no such thing as a "happy period" other than they confirm you are not pregnant. These ads are probably…

After 26 years of Active Duty Military Service, I really did not want to get back into the job market. However, once the reality of our country’s current economic situation set in, along with my desire to maintain my pre-retirement lifestyle and income, I decided to find a job. In 2006, there were not many employers looking to hire military retirees with a ton of experience and no college degree. Even today, there are not many employers that will hire employees without some type of post secondary education.
Education is the key. Once I started attending college on a regular basis, I was required to complete an internship as part of my undergrad degree program. While searching for the right company for my internship, I stumbled across an underused resource - “Paid U.S. Federal Government Internships.” Depending on the U.S. Government Agency; (State Department, Veterans Affairs, Justice, Education, Transportation, etc,) will depend on the prerequisites required to qualify for a paid internship.
Currently, I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and I found that they offer several paid internships at various entry levels. My plan is to enter the healthcare executive level internship program once I earn my Masters of Business Administration in Health Care Administration.
To learn more about Federal Government Paid Internships and other employment opportunities offered by the U.S. Government go to the USAJOBS.GOV web site. Please note that the U.S Government is not the only place that offers paid internships. You can obtain a paid internship within your local city, county or state governments to include private corporations.
The internship’s prerequisites are different for each organization and beginning with the institution's human resources department should help you get started in the right direction. Even in a tight economy there are still employment opportunities available that will pay you to learn how to perform a job. You can search the internet for paid internship opportunities for high school students too.
Will a paid internship help you attain your career goals?
