Companies go to great lengths to get their message out to the consumer, including the use of viral marketing, which spreads like, well, a virus in online social networks.

Blendtec has come up with a great way to promote its new blender. It has differentiated itself from the pack by using viral marketing. Its site looks like a virtual infomercial. But one link that catches your eye: "Will it Blend? See the videos everybody is talking about".

Willitblenc.com shows you things NOT to try at home. Free videos on the website have you laughing in hysterics. So much so, you’ll tell your friends and they’ll tell their friends, and so on and so on and so on. That is how viral works. But it is not easy to be a YouTube Star.

After the laughing subsides, you’re left with one thing to do: check out all the great benefits the product has to offer. The use of the Internet has opened new doors to advertising and people looking for humorous anecdotes find themselves drawn in by curiosity.

Does viral marketing catch your attention? Do you have an urge to buy that blender and make some kickin’ margaritas?
