What you're thinking!

This was a very well written article. While I do agree with you on some of the statements I also disagree. It would be nice if there were no side…

Very well written. I could not agree more there is no such thing as a "happy period" other than they confirm you are not pregnant. These ads are probably…

Arthur Isbill Jr.

What if TV commercials made sense from the start to finish? While stationed in Scotland in the early 80’s I found BBC TV commercials to be strange at first. One example would be a Player’s Cigarette ad featuring a girl climbing a ladder to a swimming pool, diving in and a pack of cigarettes comes up out of the water. She is never seen holding or using the product. It comes down to sex sells. I guess it worked since I still remember the ad the girl and the product.

I got used to the UK ads having nothing to do with the product, I found out it was the same in Japan. Even though I did not know much of the language, I could figure out what was being sold. It was odd to see American Actors speaking Japanese in the ads.

American ads are getting just as bad. Many ads use some kind of sex appeal to get your attention and show that everyone having a great time in whatever they may be doing. Does everyone who uses the product look as good as the people in the commercials?

Corona Light ads show people watching the sunset as they drink. Currently an ad shows a lady skiing in the sand that morphs to snow and back to a beach scene. Is this magical beer? No.

Are ads effective when they do not prominently feature how a product is used?
