Stride Gum no fun

stride_forever_fruit.gif
I hate false advertising. The question I would like to put to my readers is; have you tried Stride gum? I have and my stepson too. It left me a bit puzzled to say the least. I just could not believe that a ridiculously long last gum only lasted about twenty minutes. I might be wrong but the word ridiculously must have thrown me of the real time frame for the chewing experience, I wasn’t impressed in the lease.
I did it, subdued by an advertisement that I saw on time. Yes I was weak and I let the crazy things I saw with my eyes influence me to purchase a package of Stride gum, The employee that were surfing on the assembly lines not having any work to do because I was chewing the gum that they made for so long that it stopped production, leaving them with excessive time of the hands. Kowabonga surf is up on company time. I don’t know exactly which one of their many commercials actually got me. It might have been the one were this man is minding his own business speaking on his cell phone and chewing gum all at the same time then out of now where comes a charging ram. It hits him dead in his stomach knocking him to the ground where he staggers up to his feet in disbelief. While still in shock the ram hits him again this time the man’s gum come shooting out from his mouth. It has gotten so bad at Stride that they have to send hit men excuse me hit animals out after their loyal customers to end their chewing experience so they can purchase more and not keep on chewing their first piece.
Stride is a brand under the. Cadbury Confectionery Company umbrella, it was started back in 1824 by John Cadbury The company is well known and well loved for out 200 years. It’s known for its chocolates, candies, gums and mints. They boast to being one of the biggest and the best confectionery companies in the world or at least sixty countries. Stride gum came into play June 21st 2006 with two flavors Spearmint & Winterblue. It took about three years of research and hundreds of prototypes. They consumer tested it in order to deliver the best product that they could In January 2007 the flavor Sweet Peppermint came out and then in May 2007 Forever Fruit came out. They didn’t stop there January 2008 brought Sweet Berry and Sweet Cinnamon to the long lasting team of Stride long
I don’t want to take on the company for false advertising because it is just my opinion but I would like to hear other people’s opinion on the matter. I tried Forever Fruit and it didn’t last forever at all, I think the time it takes you to say forever is longer than the time its flavor last. I didn’t want to believe it so I did my own taste testing. I brought another flavor to see if that was the problem. I didn’t just use my own taste buds I used my stepsons as well. I opened it while waiting on the check out line at Wal-mart. The line was less then twenty minuets long and by the time we checked out my stepson told me that the flavor had worn out. I double checked myself and came to the same conclusion.
Ethically they should not boast a product last a ridiculously long time in the flavor department if that is not the case. I know a lot of testing went into this gum and I am sure I will continue to give it a chance. I wish they would have come to me first when they were testing the gums, I would have told them the truth. I’m sure the testing was ample I just wonder if they were surveyed after testing or are the testers some where still chewing their original piece of gum somewhere. I wonder if they mean to say it last a long time that I would agree upon, it’s just not the flavor. I would very much like to know other peoples opinion, because if I am right then something needs to be done about the shame that’s being played on peoples psyche like mine was. Let the truth be told it last about the same time as every other brand and that is not what its clam to fame is. It is to the point where if I was to try it again to prove myself wrong if it’s not lasting longer than twenty minuets I would want my money back or a endless supply of gum, something to compensate me for my inconvenience. This kind of sounds over top right, but it’s just as over the top as there commercials.
If I was in management I would first try it myself, all the flavors. If it doesn’t quite cut the mustard on the long lasting taste front, they should go back to the drawing board. They should try to improve the formula and while that is going on provide sales for the flavors already out there being distributed via indirect or direct cannels. This will get rid of the old so the new can be ushered in. I would revamp my commercials to a more realistic approach one that talks with real people like you and me that have an opinion on the researched and newly improve Stride gum.
The product is a good product but everything we do has a little space for improvement. They should keep this product on the market and just adjust its promotion based on the findings of flavor and taste research. I never said that its flavor was bad I just said it didn’t last as long as the commercials and websites lead us the chewers to believe.
I didn’t mean to put Stride on blast because the do have cool games on there website and it might be that the general populations taste buds have changed 2006. Please give Stride a try and let me know how it measured up to you. I am a open minded individual and I can be totally wrong about this but I don’t think so. Hope to hear from you soon.
